I am from San Antonio, Texas, My wife is a nurse and i am an EMT, we both used to work for Baptist hospital system. This hospital system is own by a company called Vangard, I had to quit in 2007 due to the development os Achilles tendonitis in both of my ankles, a very painful condition which requires rest and a lot less walking that what my previous job required, my wife left after a group of OB-Gyn doctors moved closer to another baptist hospital and she was only getting to work 1 or 2 days a weekdue to the sudden lack of patients. It took two years to heal my ankles, I reapplied to the hospital where I used to work and foud out that in spite of my excellent work record with the hospital and that the nurses I worked with wanted me back, i was not going to be considered for rehire because I failed a "personality test" that they now require all applicants to take.
This is a new low in my opinion, first it was checking your credit, which in reality has nothing to do with what kind of worker one is. Now they want to eliminate anyone who is an independant thinker who might cause a problem or who might not be a perfect "stepford worker" This facility is not the only one, almost all hospitals in San Antonio are doing the same basic thing. Its amazing, you can go to college and still be prevented from working if you happen to not be the exact personality type they want. this is an attack on individualism, something that this country prizes. What is even more mind boggling is that with unemployment rate so high they are willing to dicriminate in this fashion, it seems very fascist to me.
